HOLSTEIN SWITZERLAND NATURE PARK

Holstein Switzerland Nature Park is one of the best-known vacation regions in Schleswig-Holstein. For several years now, we have been supporting the region’s tourism marketing efforts in branding and promotional materials—starting with a comprehensive rebranding of the essentials and a minimalist logo that serves as a clean visual identifier for the many sectors and stakeholders.

Details

For Holstein Switzerland Nature Park, we restructured the brand’s visual foundation and have continued to build upon it in many directions over the years. The starting point was a deliberately minimalist logo that, at the client’s request, takes a back seat and can be flexibly integrated into a wide variety of promotional materials, formats, and branding contexts without becoming too dominant.

Building on this, we created an approachable visual identity featuring organic forms inspired by the lake landscape, an accessible visual language, and a contemporary hand-lettered typeface. To complement this, we designed a comprehensive icon set, provided content for digital touchpoints, and continuously develop print materials—ranging from simple fold-out flyers to complex program brochures, event posters, and other marketing materials.

Today, tourism marketing must accomplish many things at once: inform, evoke emotion, provide guidance, and appeal to a wide variety of target groups. In a region like Holstein Switzerland Nature Park, there’s an additional challenge: the brand’s image must convey a sense of tranquility, intimacy, and scenic beauty without veering into the arbitrary or overly romantic.

That’s exactly where our work comes in. We didn’t radically reinvent the brand, but rather refined its key elements so that it now functions in a clearer, more flexible, and more appealing way.

The minimalist logo creates space for content and a wide variety of communicators, while the organic shapes, imagery, and hand lettering lend the brand warmth and character. The result is a system that can evolve over the year, from digital content to folded print materials.

From the icon set to the brochure layout, we consistently rethink the brand across all touchpoints. This ensures that Holsteinische Schweiz remains equally recognizable in both print and digital formats—even when the formats, content, and sources change.

Less logo, more sense of the landscape— and a brand identity that remains friendly, flexible, and clear across all formats.

In tourism, too, print is far from obsolete. Flyers and brochures, in particular, remain a powerful medium on the ground—as a tangible guide,
a quick overview, and information to take with you, all without needing a battery, app, or cell service.
